Laboratory for discrete system simulation

The Laboratory is active working at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Maribor since 2001, focusing on two main goals:

- the installation of a highly sophisticated laboratory, which uses state-of-the-art simulation technologies and modelling procedures on the appropriate powerful hardware and software,

- building a strong research group that will be actively involved in national and international activities in the field of simulation of discrete events and in the pedagogical field.

Laboratory activities are aimed at achieving cutting-edge scientific, research, applicative and pedagogical results and offering services based on the highest, internationally comparable standards. Laboratory activity includes pedagogical work at all stages of study, theoretical and user-oriented research work for institutions and industry and publishing activity. The main field of activity is discrete simulations of processes in production and services (simulation of discrete events).

In the laboratory, we share equipment with the Laboratory for production and operations managemnet (12 personal computers and laptops, "smart board" with video projector, multifunction A3 laser printer, scanner and copier, color A3 laser printer, 40 "LED TV, Blu-ray , DVD and VHS player, software: Autodesk Factory Design Suite, simulators (SIMIO, ARENA, SIMUL8, SIMFACTORY, Plant Simulation), dedicated programs (Expert Choice, LEKIN, Cost-Time Profiler, etc.).

Within the laboratory, we use the SIMIO simulation package with the help of donation from the Simio LLC (http://www.simio.com).
